Branches of Psychology and Occupational therapy
This can sometimes be an overwhelming concept for both parents and children alike. We can assist in helping to understand this better. Find below some topics discussed in detail and check back regularly for an updated list.
Clinical Psychology – is concerned with the assessment and treatment of serious forms of psychopathology, which includes anxiety, behavioural problems and other disorders.
Counselling Psychology– is a speciality that maintains a focus on facilitating personal and interpersonal functioning across the life span.
Educational Psychology – is the branch of psychology concerned with the scientific study of human learning both on an emotional and cognitive level. This branch is sometimes also referred to as “child or school” psychologist. Educational Psychologists provide a variety of assessments and therapy to assist children to become the best they can.
Occupational therapy – is the use of treatments to develop, recover or maintain the daily living or work skills of people with a physical or developmental condition. Occupational therapists are there to help the child develop fine motor skills, understanding information through visual means, and self-care skills.
